You can use following function to remove HTML links or say HTML anchor tags from a string.

Well its not my own algorithm to do so. I referred following HTML parser to do this. You can download it from here.

It is a an agile HTML parser that builds a read/write DOM and supports plain XPATH or XSLT.

Here is the function for your assistance.

Function WrapOutAll_A_Tag_From_HTML(ByVal description As String) As String

Dim doc As New HtmlAgilityPack.HtmlDocument()
Dim stream As New System.IO.StringReader(description)
doc.Load(stream)

Dim _return As String = “”

Dim all_A As New System.Collections.Generic.List(Of String)
Dim node As HtmlAgilityPack.HtmlNode

Try
For Each node In doc.DocumentNode.Descendants(“a”)
all_A.Add(node.XPath)
Next

Dim s As String
For Each s In all_A.ToArray()
If Not doc.DocumentNode.SelectSingleNode(s) Is Nothing Then
doc.DocumentNode.SelectSingleNode(s).Remove()
End If
Next

_return = doc.DocumentNode.InnerHtml()
Catch ex As Exception
_return = description
End Try

Return _return
End Function

Using this function, you can remove HTML links/HTML anchor tags from your string content.

Take Out Time for Yourself:
Try and do a division of your heavy workload. Make a list of tasks which can be split into smaller pieces. If there are some tasks which you feel aren’t really important, give them up. Try and learn the art of time management. Try to maintain a balance between your personal and family life.

Think Positive:

Don’t let thoughts like: “I’m trapped”, “things are never going to change” etc.

Take advice at your workplace:

If you’re finding it difficult to handle things at your workplace, do one thing,  walk up to your management and discussing things with him. These days many companies provide counseling to their employees.

Are you free..? then you can do this.

Activites like watching movies, music, gossiping, travelling can actually help you overcome negativities in your life.

Holidays….:

If you’re bored of your city life, it’s time to go for a holiday. Plan for a short vacations…. hills, jungles, beaches. Make sure you don’t get where you will have environment what you have in present city/place.  You would feel revitalized.

Eat Healthy…Stay healty:

Eating healthy food is a key. It is also important for good mental health.

Hi,

One of the requirement during the maintenance for one of the project was to call a web page iteratively on a scheduled time.

I find one interesting article posting script how to run scheduled task to call a web page using task scheduler in windows.

All you have to do is save following script in a .vbs file, and schedule it to run on windows scheduler.

Here it is:

Call LogEntry()

Sub LogEntry()

‘Force the script to finish on an error.
On Error Resume Next

‘Declare variables
Dim objRequest
Dim URL

Set objRequest = CreateObject(“Microsoft.XMLHTTP”)

‘Put together the URL link appending the Variables.
URL = “http://localhost:82/image-sitemap-generator.aspx”

‘Open the HTTP request and pass the URL to the objRequest object
objRequest.open “POST”, URL , false

‘Send the HTML Request
objRequest.Send

‘Set the object to nothing
Set objRequest = Nothing

End Sub

You can find more detail from here for implementation of this:

DIWALI

Also known as Deepawali and Deepotsav, this is the final day of the Hindu year.

Origin
Mankind is forever steeped in the misery of ãdhi (mental agony), vyãdhi (physical sufferings) and upãdhi (pain from external elements).
On the day when man is liberated from these, it becomes the day of Diwali, of bliss for him.

There are five stories celebrating this day:

  1. Shri Krishna vanquished Narkasur, releasing people from misery.
  2. Pruthu Raja extracted goodness from the earth.
  3. During the Samudra Manthan, Lakshmiji emerged from the ocean.
  4. The Pandavas returned from their forest exile.
  5. Shri Ramchandra returned to Ayodhya after his victory over Ravan in Lanka.

In essence people light divas on this day to depict their joy on being released from suffering inflicted by evil elements.
Thus, this day came to be known as Deepotsavi.

Rituals

The Bhavishyottar Puran (140–14–29) cites details of how to celebrate Diwali from early morning.

  • To augur success, those involved in trade and business do pujan of their new ledgers, known as Chopda Pujan (also known as Sharda Pujan).
  • People light divas in their homes every evening.
  • During Diwali it is a tradition in Hindu homes for the womenfolk to decorate a rangoli at the entrance or near the doorway, after washing the floor. A rangoli   is an intricate and artistic design, using coloured powders. It represents an auspicious welcome for Lakshmiji, who visits people during Diwali to grant wealth.

Sentiments

  • People forgive and forget misdeeds of the past year and resolve to spend the coming year in peace, harmony, purity and to earn lakshmi by observing dharma.
  • On this the darkest (moonless) day of the month, people light divas symbolically, praying to Paramatma for inner enlightenment.
  • Diwali is a festival to resolve personal discord and familial conflict, to increase love, unity and harmony in the family and society.
  • Finally, since we are graced by the infinite love of God and his holy Sadhu, we should feel fulfilled and contented, known as purnakampanu. Therefore we should endeavour to consolidate our dharma, gnan, vairagya and bhakti, to further receive their benediction.

Happy DIWALI to all of you and Prosperous NEW YEAR.

Intension for the development of this PlugIn is to develop a jQuery pagination which resembles Flicker like
pagination
.

jPager is a jQuery pager plugin, similar to Flickr’s paging interface.

If you have ever visited Flicker photo sharing website, you would have noticed that it display a range of pages with
current page in middle. It also facilitates to have back and forth navigation. If you have very large data spread across
range of pages, and then it leave outs page numbers, displaying an ellipsis instead, followed by the last page number.

It is very integrative jQuery pager Plugin.

Although pager is generally used along with some grid controls, but there may be sometime kind of requirement where
you may require to use jQuery pager control alone itself. For e.g. you may use along with some image gallery,
rotating content, carousel like section etc.

This jQuery pager/Flicker like jQuery pager allows you to creating pagination facility into you application
with minimum effort.

How to use?

  1. Reference jPager.js & jPager.css files in your page
    <script type="text/javascript" language="javascript" src="jquery-1.2.6.min.js" />
    <script type="text/javascript" language="javascript" src="jPager.js" />
    <link href="jPager.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />
  2. create a HTML container for pager. Put it where you wanted to display your pager require.
    <div id=”content”></div>
  3. Put the following sript in your page.
    <script type=”text/javascript” language=”javascript”>

    $(document).ready(function() { $("#content").pager({ PageCount: 5, currentPage: 1 }); });

    </script>

Features:

  1. Very lighweight & easy to use and easy to integrate. Just one line of code you need to build jQuery pager.
  2. CSS driven so layout is fully costomizable with CSS.
  3. Event driven facility make it easy to call any custom script whenever page get chaged.
  4. Supports upto unlimited pages.
  5. Display custom text for previous & next buttons.
  6. Hide displaying previous & next buttons.

You can download the demo & source code from here.

Cheers
